Description
This 1953 Consul is showing 76000 miles, but there is no history. The engine has been rebuilt and is very good, with no blue smoke or rattles. The bodywork is remarkably good with the exception of one rear jacking point. The paintwork is quite good. The interior is tidy and there is a really nice new cloth headlining. The car drives quite well, but the clutch slips sometimes and the brakes need bleeding. The wheels have been widened to 5. 5J and are fitted with newish Maxxis 185/ 70-13s. Plenty of money has been spent on this car, but I just have too many old cars and can't cope with them all, so some must go. There is a maker's workshop manual and driver's handbook with the car. The Consul script in the last photo was made by me and is now on the fascia! It cannot be driven away because of the soft pedal! It was restored about 7 years ago after a long period of disuse. About £6000 spent. The synthetic enamel paint has suffered from the car being kept under a cover, but it looks pretty good at first sight! There is some more paint with it. The underside has been sprayed with waxoil underseal and is very good.
