For sale is my Puma GTE 1600 1977
I first got hold of this car back in 2020 after finding it on a UK barn find Facebook page, this car had been sat under the same tree for 25+ years after the guy that owned it only wanted it for the engine and left it to die under a tree.
Once we got to the car there wasn't a whole lot left, the weather and environment had destroyed anything that was left, every piece of metal on the car was destroyed, the floor pans were in the dirt under the car, the window frames were just crusty pieces of metal barely hugging the glass, it was in a very very sorry state, the only saving grace is that the body is fully fibreglass which saved this car. The paint on the car has taken on crazy patina in the years sitting under the tree which really makes this car one of a kind.
After taking it home it was clear that the chassis would not see the road again, the spine of the chassis almost snapped in half on the way home. the car now sits on a shortened beetle chassis that was custom made for the puma and is now better than new.
It was clear for me and my brother building this car that it was unique and needed to turn heads so we decided that it needed to be modified. The car sits on a premium EVA resto full air suspension kit featuring Air lift performance 3P 4 way adjustable management, which can lower and raise the car at the press of a button. To get the car as low as we wanted it has custom flat pans to make the floor as smooth as possible and has huge rear tubs to allow the rear wheels to go as high as possible in the arches, when I say this car is low it is LOW it measures 39. 5 inches from floor to roof when it is aired out, get a tape measure out and you will laugh your head off, its crazy !
even though the paint is falling off and looks rough everything on the car is brand new or has been refurbished to like new, the brakes, suspension, fuel system, interior is all brand new.
the interior is one off, trimmed by Ed Aldridge, I gave him a simple task of make it like new and make it stand out and he absolutely killed it, the car has brand new carpets and headliner and offers custom one off seats and matching door cards that you will not find anywhere else, the dash board is still original and has cleaned up very well including all its original gauges.
The engine is a stockish 1600, nothing special but looks good and is reliable, it has a set off weber 40 IDF, MSD 6 plus CDI ignition with launch control, billet distributor, merged stainless exhaust with a custom back box which looks and sounds great.
Since finishing the build of the car in late 2023 it has done well over 7, 000 miles and has been to car shows in Europe on 3 different occasions, the car has won multiple trophies at over 15 shows that I've done in 2024 alone.
This is a wicked car that turns heads everywhere it goes, I will be very sad to see the car go but ill be happy to see someone get as much enjoyment out of it as me, I am selling due to buying my first property and it has to go.
