Description

1914 Model T Ford Runabout

Introduced in October 1908, the Model T ford replaced all other models. Famous for so many reasons, mass production and the introduction of the assembly line etc. “Available in any colour as long as its black” – Albeit this is a slight myth as there was a period of time you could have other colours.

1914 was the year the previous statement was made by Henry Ford. It was the first full year of production (308, 162 units made). It was also the last year of the original version of the Model T, with it exposed firewall, optional three oil lamps, speedometer windscreen, bumpers, hood. As the model T developed, so did the sales. Peaking in production in 1923 with 1, 817, 891 units produced. The Model T prevailed for 19 years , with production officially ending on the 25th May 1927.

Our car was first registered in 1914 and believed to be as a Runabout (although potential buyers will need to satisfy themselves with this fact). Given this was a 1914 model, the car was most likely black. However, in the 1970’s the chassis supported a pickup body imported from France. At some point this body was converted back to the Runabout - effectively a roadster minus the dickey seat - it now is. It was bought in 2005, and with time dedicated created what is now the later restoration model that we see today. Certified dating is provided by both the model T register in 1978 and the veteran car club of great Britian in1999.

This beautiful representative of the brass era is presented in navy blue with varnished artillery wheels. The car is kept true to the 1914 UK runabout model, which then featured the trailaway rear mudguards. Whilst a later restoration, the car drives well and has been cared for. Used consistently with participation at vintage rallies, it has also been well stored when not in use. A truly usable and smart example of the model T. This runabout is now an extremely rare sight on UK roads.

Everything on the car works as it should and is ready to be enjoyed.
