Pre-Christmas treat - Price reduced to £23, 000. Full professional restoration based on our original vehicle, creating a genuinely useable example of a classic Series 2a for everyday use and social occasions.

You would be buying a Series that does not want for anything and is an enjoyable car that will cruise comfortably in modern traffic, and stands out from the crowd.

It is based brand new Richards Chassis with removable gearbox cross member and a Robert Owen bulkhead which was supplied with their anti-corrosion system prior to painting in epoxy primer.

Rear axle housing was sandblasted, new bracing member welded on and then painted with epoxy primer, prior to finishing in 2K topcoat.
Differential rebuilt
New rear hubs, bearings and seals and wheel studs
LOF 10” brake system including new drums, wheel cylinder, brake shoes and springs.

All individual axle components have been blasted, and painted in epoxy primer with a 2K grey topcoat for maximum resistance to corrosion and best appearance.

Axle tube blasted, epoxy primed and painted in 2K topcoat, new internal seals.
New chrome Swivel balls, bearings and seals throughout
LOF 10” front brake system with new drums, wheel cylinders, brake shoes and springs.
Brand new free-wheeling hubs.

Front and rear axles use new GB parabolic springs for improved ride quality. Front and rear shock absorbers are all new. All suspension components are either plated or painted for longevity and appearance.

All suspension hardware and fittings are high-grade and brand-new. Braided hoses throughout with new solid axle brake lines.

2. 25litre 4 cylinder diesel engine
Completely rebuilt with extensive machining and blueprinted assembly. This is the upgraded 5-bearing block, not the original weak 3-bearing engine, so is more reliable.

Bored and honed to 40 oversize with new pistons and conrods, assembly balanced.

All new gaskets throughout. New Defender style oil filter housing using modern spin-on oil filter with built-in low pressure alert.

Cylinder head has new exhaust valve seats with 3 angle valve job. Head surfaced with new head gasket.
All new valves and springs. Pressure tested after assembly
New Hi-Torque Powerlite Starter motor
LOF HD clutch and pressure plate with new flywheel. The slave cylinder is new as are all hoses

The injector pump was retimed and overhauled. New injectors throughout, all pressure matched for consistent fuelling. New lift pump and ballast resistor. Full set of new glowplug heaters and wiring.

New water pump and radiator with new hoses and electric fan, which is switched thermostatically.
New clutch master cylinder, hardware and braided pipes

Highly detailed engine bay with plated and painted components, such as diesel filter housing, inlet and exhaust manifolds, block, air filter housing and ancillaries. Stainless exhaust.
Brand new fuel tank, painted and rust proofed.

Steering box, fully rebuilt with new bearings and seals/ gaskets
New idler box with upgraded steering shaft and new greaseable ball joints.
Upgraded HD tie bar and steering bars with new ball joints

Instrument panel
All instruments overhauled and feature new glass and bezels
All new switches. Digital speedometer installed.
Original ignition and glow plug switch dismantled, parts replaced and rebuilt.

Very high level of detailing for both appearance, and servicability. Many parts were stripped, vapour blasted and passivated zinc plated, such as throttle linkages, windscreen fasteners, and door stops.

All capping strips to doors, tub, rear tub corners and windscreen surround were vapour blasted, and then galvanised.

Tub
Uses original side panels with their attractive age-related patina and feel. All panels were all stripped to bare metal and painted in epoxy primer for maximum corrosion resistance.
New YRM cross supports for tub plus new floor with new supports throughout.
All rivets are aircraft quality solid rivets as used in factory locations with alloy pop rivets as on original.
Original aged number plate and Land Rover badge used, unrestored as they look so good.

Autosparks full wiring loom, cotton wrapped with new bulkhead fuseboard. Alternator fitted, so no need for an external regulator, plus reliable charging and lights compared to original dynamo

All lighting is new including upgraded headlights, headlight buckets, front side lights, front indicators, rear indicators and rear stop/ tail lights. New Heated Windscreens with dash-operated timer switch.

YRM supplied new seat box parts, new sides, rear supports and battery/ storage box. All solid riveted and painted in epoxy before assembly. Seats are Defender with Exmoor Trim seat covers in an aged tan colour. All floor panels are new and fitted with stainless fasteners.
