Description

The Dragonfly is a superbly engineered British touring motorcycle which was designed by the Douglas company in the late 1950's. A trade mark of Douglas was the 'horizontally-opposed' engine design which was later adopted by BMW. I had fond memories of owning one of these in my teens in the 1960's and sought the opportunity to refresh these memories in my second (or is it my third) childhood. I became the proud owner of my 1955 model just over a year ago and have enjoyed many pleasurable trips with her. Regretfully due to illness I am no longer able to ride the bike hence she is for sale.
She starts first kick and rides gracefully. A real touring bike and an eye-catcher at shows. The original 6v system was upgraded to 12v and electronic ignition was fitted 15 years ago and works well. Paintwork in good condition with just a little patination and a tiny dent on the tank. For reasons of safety in modern traffic I have added indicators however they are easily removed if desired.
