1992 Honda CR-X 1. 6i VT
This featherweight front-wheel drive coupé redefined the cheap, reliable and fun sports car. Launched in 1987 as the second generation of the CR-X it’s a technical marvel that handles superbly. This example is fitted with the legendary 1. 6-litre B16A VTEC engine. Its 150PS makes it very quick but the remarkable thing is it’s power delivery. Driving in VTEC between 5000rpm and 8000rpm is frantic and can’t help but put a smile on the face. Honda could proudly claim that the twin-cam four-cylinder engine was the world’s first naturally aspirated production car engine to produce 100 (metric) horsepower per litre.
There are precious few original examples remaining of this modern classic and this car may well be the best example anywhere.
THIS CAR
First registered on 20 March 1992 and delivered in the UK by Honda dealers Elite Motors. Although first delivered in the UK it is believed that the car spent much of it’s early life on the continent where the less inclement weather has helped maintain the car in it’s current condition. Passing from it’s first owner, the car then spent a number of years in a private collection and in storage. The present owner and the car’s second registered owner has owned the car since 22 February 2023.
The car has been meticulously maintained by all its owners evidenced by a comprehensive record of bills, receipts, old tax discs, MOTs etc. The car is offered complete with it’s original Elite Motors number plates, tax disc holder and key fob.
Notable items of maintenance are a replacement sunroof panel in December 2012, wheel refurbishment April 2020 and replacement timing belt in 2018 at 10, 947 miles. There are one or two sins of wear to the front seats where the PVC inserts have torn but these could easily be repaired. The car has a valid MOT until April 2025 with no advisories.
Security is dealt with by a Foxguard alarm and immobilizer and the car is fitted with a Tracker. With just 11, 000 miles on the clock this CRX is an extremely rare example and represents a unique opportunity to own this appreciating classic.
