Description
This stunning DB6 Mk2 will delight any enthusiast looking for an exceedingly rare car to add to their collection or for the discerning guy who appreciates utter beauty despite the price.
Featured in Andrew Noakes well known '70 years of DB' as an excellent example of a DB6 Mk2, this is simply a beautiful car to look at and to own.
The Mk 2 is the culmination of the Aston Martin’s long running line of ‘DB’ six-cylinder sports saloons, and thus considered by many to be the last ‘real’ Aston. DB6 was introduced in 1965, updating the DB5 and the Mk2 was the best of all.
Increased rear-seat space was the prime objective of the 6 so the wheelbase was now 4” longer than in the 5, resulting in an extensive restyle with more raked windscreen, raised roofline and reshaped rear quarter windows. Opening front quarter lights made a reappearance but the major change was at the rear where a Kamm-style tail with spoiler improved the aerodynamics, greatly enhancing stability at high speeds. These many dimensional changes were integrated most successfully, the DB6’s overall length increasing by only 2”.
The Mk2 was announced in August 1969 offering enhancements over the mk1, mostly drawn from the new DBS just hitting the market: power steering, flared wheel arches adding an extra touch of style to the bodywork and wider 15” wheels. Just 240 examples were produced and many were LHD supplied to the US market. It is unclear how many are still on the road in the UK as dvla figures draw no distinction between Mk1 and Mk2 cars.
This particular car is unrestored and thus original in all respects except for a repaint 9 years ago which is absolutely superb!
Many thousands of pounds have been invested in this car by the previous owner with engine and body works undertaken including the installation of unleaded valves etc. This cra is highly usable and collectable and it would be impossible not to be delighted with SVJ342H!
Supplied with an extensive history file including current V5 registration document, previous MOT’s, owners handbook, tool kit and jack.
We cannot say enough to convey just how lovely this car really is!This car was bought because the car ticked every box the current owner had. Beautiful to behold, very usable rather than just being polished in the garage and requiring almost no further investment in improvement.
Anyone seeking to own and drive a car rather than simply own one will find this is the perfect tool for your needs.
The current odometer shows 5, 700 miles only but is not accurate obviously - the car has gone ‘round the clock’ which only goes to show how reliable and usable it has been!
It starts every time ‘on the button’, was taken all the way to Spain just prior to Covid and will be a showstopper for anyone looking to establish a collection of real quality cars.
