Up for sale is this fabulous 1999 TVR Chimaera 400. If you’re looking for a practical performance car with enough room for a weekend away, a comfortable leather interior as well as the ability to provide ample excitement behind the wheel then look no further!
The Chimaera uses TVR’s tried and tested construction technique of a steel spaceframe chassis with double wishbone suspension front and rear underneath a lightweight composite bodyshell. This results in a vehicle with excellent driving dynamics, high power to weight ratio & cost effective maintenance as a lot of parts are shared with other manufacturers and across the TVR range.
Powering the Chimaera is the ever reliable & iconic sounding 4L Rover V8 engine. This particular car has had the central silencer modified which helps emphasize the engine note without it being excessively noisy. Sitting behind the engine is the excellent Tremec T5 gearbox which was used on all of the TVRs from this point onwards due to its reliability & performance.
The bodywork & interior are an excellent combination of Imperial blue metallic over cream & blue leather with a walnut dashboard. It also comes complete with TVR’s own aluminium switch gear & interior detailing which really adds to the experience in the cockpit. Currently sitting at 67, 000 miles this Chimaera has been well looked after throughout its life with a comprehensive history file that accompanies the vehicle dating back to 2004. Most recently the vehicle has been looked after by HPC Classics in Eastbourne after it came through their showroom in 2021. It has been subject to regular servicing & maintenance throughout its life & mechanically wants for nothing. Notably it has had the chassis outriggers replaced in 2018 & as such the chassis is in excellent condition.
