Description
Triton 650 - with Triumph 650 engine and Norton Model 50 wideline frame. I purchased this bike a while ago as it had been sitting unloved for some time. I am selling this as a 'project' only as it it needs some minor fettling to get it up and running.
The engine is a T110 bottom end, with a Bonneville 9-stud head. The bottom end has just been rebuild with the crank ground and new shells. It runs R-type cam followers, high-compression pistons and E3134 cams. It has a correct pair (left and right) of Amal 389/ 689 carbs. The magneto is an original Lucas racing unit K2FR with a strong spark. I have fitted a new finned sump plate. There is also a new solid state regulator rectifier fitted. The bike ran when I purchased it but badly and has not been started since. I suspect the original main issues were timing and carburation. The bike hasn't been started since and the timing and carbs will need to be adjusted as part of the initial set-up. Engine internals are in great shape overall and the head must have rebuilt in the past, based on the condition of the valves etc.
The chassis is a Norton model 50 wideline, with roadholders and a Norton twin-leading front brake (new brake shoes). The original and fantastic Lyta baffled manx tank still has the original sticker on and is fitted with a new tap (there is also an aluminium manx oil tank). The clocks are chronometric and I believe that the rev counter has just been rebuilt but have no evidence. The silencers and Dunston type and the down pipes are swept back.
In summary, a great looking 'period' rockers triton with all the right bits, that just needs a further bit of time spending on it. It is not a show winner but a bike that has been properly used and has scratches and chips to the frame paint and some surface rust on chromed swingarm etc. but I purchased it to ride and it's got the look spot on.
I managed to get the V5 with the original number plate and I believe this is transferable.
Get in touch and I can talk you through the details.
