Our M6
The BMW M6 we offer is a truly special specimen. This car is an original U. S.-delivered BMW, making it unique in our collection. From its first registration in Illinois, USA, to today, this M6 has undergone a fascinating journey that reflects its passion for speed and elegance. It’s a car that not only delivers performance but also has a story to tell.
The BMW M6: An american legend
While BMW's M models are beloved worldwide, the BMW M6 has always held a special connection with America. In Europe, people drove the BMW 635 CSi, but in the USA, the M6 could be ordered with modifications that allowed it to be road legal. This particular example has had only four owners, each of whom cared for and loved the car. The detailed Carfax reports, from the day of delivery in Illinois, provide insight into its rich history. This M6 left the U. S. via the famous Beverly Hills Car Club and is now shining in our showroom in Katwijk, ready to be admired.
An M6 in excellent condition
The car is in outstanding condition. In 2016, a significant investment of more than $3, 700 was made, during which the suspension, air conditioning, and clutch cylinders were completely replaced. We recently renewed the water pump and conducted a thorough engine check, ensuring that we can confidently say the engine is in excellent shape. This M6 is ready for many more road adventures.
A cosmetic masterpiece
In addition to the mechanical maintenance, we have also brought the BMW M6 into top cosmetic condition. Most of the car is still in its original paint, emphasizing its authenticity. Minor imperfections have been expertly addressed, so the M6 shines once more as it did in its glory days. This car radiates class and refinement, just as an M6 should.
The story of this M6
It was 1989, a warm summer day in Illinois. The air was filled with the scent of fresh asphalt and the excitement of a new era in the automotive world. At La Grange Motors, a renowned BMW dealer in the heart of this motorsport-loving state, a gleaming BMW M6 stood ready for its new owner. The city, known for its passion for speed and racing, was the perfect backdrop for this European beauty. While other customers gathered around American classics, one man stood still before the M6. He had no interest in the usual Chevys or Fords that were so popular; his eye was drawn to the refined lines, the elegant curves, and the sheer power the BMW M6 exuded. It was love at first sight.
In 1990, just a year after purchasing it, the owner took his M6 to one of the biggest events of the year: the stock car races. The parking lot of the massive stadium was filled with thousands of cars, mostly American icons like Chevy Camaros and Ford Mustangs. The roar of engines on the oval circuit filled the air, but outside the stadium, one car caught the attention of onlookers: the BMW M6. There, among the classic American muscle cars, it stood – proud, elegant, and different. The deep black paint of the M6 gleamed in the sun, while its wide, low-lying body sent a subtle yet clear message: this is no ordinary car. This is European precision, power, and beauty in one.
As the races thundered on inside, the M6 became the center of conversation outside. People came closer to admire its perfect lines and stylish interior. This was not an everyday sight in America, but for its owner, it was not just a car. It was a dream on wheels.
The life of the M6 in America was more than just at the racetracks. It witnessed countless evenings at drive-in theaters, where the screen lit up while the M6 stood silently and impressively in the background. It cruised through the streets of Chicago, just outside the neighborhoods where the grunge scene was emerging. In the cold Illinois winters, it remained a symbol of warmth and power, always ready to dominate the roads, even in the harshest conditions.
After 13 years of loyal service to its first owner, the M6 was sold in December 2002 to a new enthusiast in Chicago. For three years, he drove with passion and pride in what was already becoming a classic. But in January 2005, another change came: the M6 was sold again, this time to a new owner in Raleigh, North Carolina. There, in the rolling landscapes of the American southeast, the M6 glided smoothly over the roads for four years. But the M6 was destined for bigger adventures.
In early 2009, the M6 departed for sunny California. Its new home: the hilly streets of San Francisco, made famous by the legendary film * Bullitt* starring Steve McQueen. The M6, with its powerful engine and smooth handling, felt right at home in this iconic setting. However, after a few months, its owner moved to Virginia, taking his beloved M6 along with him.
In 2018, the M6 faced another turning point. Through the famous Beverly Hills Car Club, it was sold and returned to Europe where it had once been built. After spending years in a private collection, the M6 is finally back in the spotlight.
