TVR Chimaera 4. 5 litre offered for sale from a private collection. Supplied by H. R. Owen of London in May 1998, first registered 20th May 1998. Stunning colour combination of Formula Red Pearl paintwork with Magnolia and Black leather trim. Very low, fully documented mileage of 40, 460 miles. MOT’d until 9th May 2025, no advisories. Unmodified and in beautiful original condition. The car is dry stored at all times, and is kept in a Carcoon over winter. Extensive service history and documentation dating back to the first service at H. R. Owen. The car presents exceptionally well inside and out. Maintained regardless of cost. Over £6000 spent on maintenance and upgrade during the current family ownership (since 2017). The ownership history of 8 former keepers is well documented in the car’s extensive paperwork. TVR main dealer and TVR service specialist maintained throughout its life.
Of the three engine options offered for the Chimaera, it was the '450' which was regarded by the motoring press and wider customer base alike as providing the smoothest and most refined balance of both raw power with ease of driveability. The 4546cc V8 OHV engine provides 285bhp at 5500rpm / 319lb ft of torque at 4500rpm, propelling the car from 0-60mph in 4. 7 seconds. The Chimaera 450 is very fast even by modern sports car standards. The car drives extremely well, pulling very strongly and smoothly through the gears and the handling is extremely sporty and positive without giving a harsh ride.
The car runs on the correct Toyo Proxes T1R tyres which have driven less than 5000 miles. Upgrades in the current family ownership include new tyres, new springs and dampers, new discs and pads, replaced fuel pipes, replaced brake hoses, replaced alarm, new Sony stereo, new veneer dash panels. The car is in its original paintwork which is in excellent, gleaming condition, with no bodywork defects other than the expected stone chips low down on the nose cone. The leather is in very good condition. The drivers seat has a very light patina from use and the rest of the leather presents like new. The 16 inch wheels are in excellent condition with no chips or kerb damage. The car is complete with its original, fully stamped service book.
The car is very well sorted and is ready to be driven, showed, and enjoyed by a new owner.
