Sadly, it is time to sell my beloved, fully restored little 1972 Fiat 500 L ( Lusso ), which I have owned for a number of years now.
When I bought the car, I loved it so much that for 6 months straight I used it as my daily car!
And the amount of smiles, waves and compliments I got from driving this car was Incredible!
A few months before COVID, I sent the car to a good friend of mine who does metal work and paint work.
The car was fully stripped back to bare metal ( pictured of this process are present ) and all of the needed welding was done.
The car was then painted in its original Blue 456 colour, which is such a beautiful colour for these cars.
But once COVID hit, the restoration was on pause, and then after COVID, other commitments got in the way.
But August last year I started to crack on with getting her back up and running.
And the finished result is lovely! During the restoration, I have tried to maintain as many original parts as I could.
This is due to the fact new, after market parts are not made to the same quality as the original ones!
So the seats are all original, but have been professionally cleaned.
Things like the door handles are all original, door mechanisms, fuel tank, wiper motor, and so on are all original, but overhauled.
The car still has its original 499CC engine and 4 speed gearbox, and has only covered a mere 37, 000 miles from new !
It is rare to find one of these cars with its matching numbers original engine.
All rubber fuel lines have been changed to Bio Ethanol proof rubber hoses, which is a must with any classic car.
The red interior really compliments the dark blue paint.
Particular attention has been made to make the doors open and close nicely with good gaps all around.
Often you will see these cars for sale with huge door gaps, and you have to slam the doors to make them shut.
This is not the case with this car.
To drive it is a joy, and has all of the classic Fiat 500 quirks!
I have a large history file with the car, which includes the restoration process pictures, and the original service book!
There are also a lot of old MOT’s going back to the 70’s. It also has quite a NNNifty number plate!
The money I have spent on the car will be a lot greater than the asking price .. but I wanted to do the restoration properly.
This is an original UK delivered RHD car.
Fully MOT’d , fully serviced and ready to drive and enjoy.

As a side note.. If whoever buys the car wanted the more powerful 650CC engine fitting, with a synchromesh gearbox, I do have a brand new unit which I would gladly fit to the car at an extra cost.
