2008 Locost Hand built

An attractive classic homage to the Lotus 7 of the 60’s. Hand built over a 5 year period by two brothers (both retired classic car restorers), passing the SVA test in June 2008. In addition to the challenge of building a car from scratch the intention was to use for the occasional rally and hill climb but as both chaps are now getting on (in their 80`s), the car was virtually unused from 2015 and put in storage.

I bought the car last year with the intention of importing it permanently to France and using it to blast around their beautiful roads in future summers and keep me off of a motorbike. The winter was spent preparing it with most ancillary items replaced and a new mot (with no advisories) and then I was offered an old BMW Gs I used to own so I’m back on a bike and reluctantly the car has to go.

The donor was a low mileage Cortina MK4 running a 2. 0 litre Pinto engine mated to a 5 speed Sierra gearbox. The chassis is 25mm square box steel, the body completely aluminium. Simple, unique, quirky, hand built, old school fun. I've not polished the aluminium as I like it looking nicely old and patinated.

New radiator, water pump, timing belt, coil, plugs, oil, filter. Lanoguard`d underneath and chassis.

I`ve fitted a quick release steering wheel with a boss extension to give more leg room as I`m 6ft 3in and 16 stone, obviously this can be restored to `normal`.

The wheels are 15" Dunlop type period rims with quality semi-slicks for handling. The car is 3m 65cm long and 1m 70cm wide. The ‘7’ grill emblem is removable as is the black bonnet badge. The front indicators are now as shown in the first 2 photos but early bigger ones still available.

I could be tempted by a part exchange for a more ‘useable’ classic.
