For sale, our much loved Saab 9-5 tid Vector Auto. 2 previous enthusiast owners means it has been very well maintained throughout its life and as such it is a very well sorted example. Turbo was refreshed in 2022 along with brembo discs and pads all round, and a new alternator and power steering pump was fitted at last MOT in 2023. More recent work has included an INA cambelt, waterpump, belts and tensioners plus the all important oil pump seal in Jan 24 and in October 24 the EGR valve and Map sensor. Routine servicing has been pretty religious every 6 months, last done in June 24. In addition, the light bar has the upgraded HBlom light kit and circuit board as well as the fan to keep moisture down inside.
Exterior of the car is very good overall. It’s not immaculate but is a solid 7/ 10. There are some signs that it has been a motorway car with some stone chips to the bumper and bonnet but entirely in keeping with age. Fitted with the sought after 19in Turbine alloys which are in very good condition as well as 4 matching tyres, the fronts being recently fitted and having 7mm tread.
Underneath the car has been Lanoguard treated so all subframe etc are in good order. Brand new, unused detachable tow bar and electrics.
The interior is absolutely immaculate, has never been smoked in and is testament to its owners. It has the full leather option, inc electric front seats which are absolutely superb. It’s the non Sat Nav spec which to be fair can be replaced by a Witson unit but this seems to be more hassle than it’s worth especially with phones being so good. I like the charm of the existing module as it seems in keeping with the rest of the green/ white dash. Usual cruise control, rain sense wipers, Bluetooth, front and rear PDC and electronic handbrake as well as electric folding mirrors, keyless entry and ambient lighting which make it a very nice place to be, even compared to more modern cars. The steering column lock module has been replaced however I can’t eradicate the check message on start up irrespective of diagnostic tool I’ve used. It can be cleared immediately on the indicator stalk which I haven’t found to be an issue.
The car drives absolutely superb and is the consummate cruiser. It returns easily 40mpg urban and 55mpg on a run. It doesn’t use a drop of oil either. Despite its size it has very well baIanced handling and is fun on long, fast sweeping corners with decent steering feedback. I’ve used this as my daily driver and it’s an excellent companion, solid as a rock. It’s great to get back into after a days work with a big journey home.
As you can probably tell, I’m a serious car enthusiast and very pedantic about my cars!
There’s a lot of love out there for this car too, whether it’s at a car show or just parked up. People stop me in the street to find out its history. I have a number of other cars, a Caterham 7 and Merc SL/ SLK etc but the Saab is the only one people want to really talk about. The car has now got 12months MOT with no advisories and an oil service will be done prior to sale.
No doubt if you are reading this you’ll know what you are looking at and as such we want it to go to another enthusiast to maintain and enjoy. In some quarters, the tid Vector is viewed as one of the lesser variants but it’s a lot of motor for the money and has always exceeded expectation for me. I’m also happy to take near offers for the right buyer. For everyone else who want ‘just a car’, or ‘can I take 2k’, my advice is go try and buy a cheap smoker elsewhere and see how that goes. This car is not for you.
