Description

1932 Morris Flat-nose Morris Cowley - Two-Seater with Dickey Seat.

           Two Town Green and Black.
Might consider part exchange/ swap for a classic sports car/ sports saloon

This Morris Cowley started life in West Yorkshire and still retains its original Huddersfield
            Registration Mark VH 4320.

1500 cc. Side Valve Engine, Hydraulic Brakes. Coil/ Dynamotor Ignition not Magneto.
"Rocker Cover" was a ploy fitted by Morris at the Factory to try and make customers believe that is was a an overhead cam engine. Due to the fact that other Manufactures had already introduced overhead cam engines.

On the dashboard is the supplying dealer’s enamel plaque from David Rosenfield Ltd of Victoria Street Manchester, a well-known motor dealership, who became a subsidiary of Henlys Ltd.

I was informed that during WWII the Morris was owned by a pilot based on a Yorkshire airfield and was stored in a local farmers barn whilst the owner was away on operational duties. Sadly the pilot was killed in action, and the car purchased by the farmer from the airman’s parents.

By 1979 the Morris was found in a shed in need of complete restoration. The two seater Cowley was then completely stripped down to the chassis and rebuilt over the course of 1979. The car then won its class in a Morris Register National event and over forty years on since the restoration the Cowley presents well as a strong, robust, well sorted older restoration.

The workmanship from 1979 was carried out to a very high standard as not only has the car survived four decades since rebuild, but it still looks lovely with an authentic period patina. Leather seats and all door cards in excellent condition. Dicky seat in vinyl.

Good hood, side screens, hood cover and side screen bag.(All mohair type not vinyl)

Wire wheels, hydraulic brakes. Running well, recent new plugs, lubrication service and engine oil change. Discreet flashing indicators fitted ( see photos ) to enable safe driving in modern driving conditions.

Runs well, and a delight to drive.
Instruments work with the exception of the oil pressure gauge, quote obtained for repair (£100) but don’t want to take the car off the road for the summer (six week lead time on repair).

Good history and some basic spares. File of History and old MOTs etc.

Contact me for any further information or for any more specific photographs. Please note some of the photos make the wheels look blue there are in fact green

Was used as a prop for a photograph with Dame Vera Lynn at a VE Day Celebration Event (photo included hence now called "Vera"
