Description

Genuine vehicle, known history, s/ n SB2054, registered with Historic Lotus Register and Lotus Cars. Certificates supplied. Purchased in January 2019 from Barry Ely Ltd, UK. 1500cc Ford 120E pre-crossflow engine (s/ n block S457813), original Ford gearbox and Standard Companion (Triumph) axle, long wings, nose and narrow rear wings in "grp" reinforced fibreglass, green, the rest of the bodywork is polished aluminium.
4 original Lotus Elan 4. 5J x 13 wheels with chrome hubcaps. 1 Triumph 3. 5J x 13 wheel with chrome hubcap (spare). 4 QRS (Quantum Racing Services, UK) aluminium "Quantum Zero" shock absorbers, custom made to original Spax models, serviced in 2020. Aquaplane aluminium flywheel (British reproduction).
New optics in original Lucas S700 globes, original Lucas indicators and upper wing supports, original Wingard 1055 tail lights and Lucas L539 indicators. Gauges (Smiths rev counter and speedometer, AC battery charge and oil pressure) original, AC h. s. capillary thermometer replaced by AC electric model (60-70 era).
Original Springall wood steering wheel. Original Serck 5. 5 gallon fuel tank. Original rear trunk lid and soft top, new tonneau cover (Redline Components, UK). 2 original removable doors. 2 original Plexiglas wind deflectors. 2 aluminium bucket seats (copies of Lotus XI and Lotus Seven S1 seats) made by Axminster Specialist Panels, UK, foam seats with leather covers.
Extensive supply of original spare parts (dismantled, retained and replaced with parts currently fitted to the car). Original owner's manual, as new condition. Purchase invoice, large file of invoices and miscellaneous documentation. First restoration in 2002 by previous owner. Engine upgraded to Cosworth Super Seven specification during the restoration of the vehicle: - fitted Kent Cams close to the original Cosworth camshaft - modified cylinder head - fitted two intake manifolds and two genuine Weber 40DCOE2 carburettors - Cosworth cast aluminium cylinder head cover.
Additional work in 2002: installation of a double timing chain and reinforced rocker arm shaft, Facet electric fuel pump, installation of alternator, Lumenition electronic ignition, Aldon distributor. In 2020/ 2021, vehicle restored again, chassis B1850 replaced at Atelier Laugier Mécanique, Paris, following a traffic accident. New chassis manufactured and supplied by Arch Motors & Manufacturing Company, UK. Old Arch Motors chassis destroyed, new chassis stamped with serial number B1850. Work carried out in 2020/ 2021: Valve stem seals replaced.
Installation of :
- Aquaplane aluminium oil cooler (UK reproduction) to period specification, large diameter ducts and high capacity oil filter - Burton high pressure oil pump - Mishimoto high flow fan to rear of radiator - Aluminium radiator - Stainless steel 4-2-1 exhaust (Redline Components, UK) - brand new front axle and steering rack - brand new front and rear brakes (new EBC discs at the front, new Alfin aluminium drums at the rear, new calipers and wheel cylinders). Fabulous car to drive, a lot of fun behind the wheel, very quick acceleration, exceptional roadholding and what a sound! I'm selling it because I want to move up to a competition car.
