Description
This bike is in excellent running order and cosmetically quite presentable for its age. It has an MoT until September 2025. The bike will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status in 2025 and will no longer require an MoT and Road Tax will be free.
I believe the mileage to be genuine. The bike was stored for a number of years and recommissioned just over a year ago. As part of the re-commissioning it benefits from a reconditioned front brake master cylinder, a new rear linked braking system master cylinder, new pads all round, new fuel pipes, new tyres, new battery, full service with all oils and filters changed and the rear suspension units have been replaced with fully adjustable new Hagon ones. The bike has two keys. All the electrics work as they should. A modern headlight bulb has been fitted for greater visibility and illumination at night. A discrete USB charge point is also fitted for satnavs etc. There is a front screen that is not fitted but can come with the bike if wanted. The silencers are stainless. The period Craven panniers come with the bike but they do not have keys. The bike is easy to get on the centre stand and it is equipped with a side stand. I bought this bike as a long distance touring machine that was simple , light and VMCC compliant. It has proved to be a superb tourer. It only weighs about 170kg and has about 55bhp on tap and I often refer to it as 'my pocket rocket'. The seat is low and suits the shorter rider. At about 70mph on motorways the engine is revving at about 4k and is very sweet without vibration and with plenty in hand for overtaking. I have found it to have excellent handling and to be a very nimble bike. There is a small manual choke lever attached to one carb and it always starts very quickly on the button. There is no fuel gauge but the tripmeter works and the petrol taps both have a reserve. I have found the front brake to be a bit wooden but the linked system is very powerful and easy to use so there is no real need to use the separate front brake. I used the bike last summer for a French touring holiday and it has also had frequent use on VMCC runs. Unfortunately, for health reasons, I am unlikely to be doing any more two up long touring holidays so, the bike is up for sale.
