Original UK Car, Owned 24 Years, Private Sale.
Original colours Pale Primrose, black leather, black mohair hood, Borg Warner automatic.
Heritage certificate on file.
Used frequently and in tip top mechanical condition, it's been to Le Mans Classic, touring Spain and many trips to Goodwood etc. Huge oil pressure, no overheating and handles like a dream.
History:
Bought by my father in the 1970's from a dealer in Manchester (previous owner reputed to be Dickie Davis). Sold by him in 1981 and bought back by me in 2000.
Previous works on the car include:
Engine rebuild by the legendary historic racer Ric Wood.
Gearbox rebuilt.
New radiator, shroud and header tank all in aluminium together with twin Spal fans.
New heater box.
New Pilkington Triplex windscreen.
Gaz shock absorbers all round, replacement springs, poly bushes, goodridge hoses, green stuff brake pads.
Interior and hood by Aldridge Trimming.
Rob Beere adjustable power steering valve.
Spin on oil filter conversion.
Upgraded Opus ignition system.
Stainless steel exhaust.
Blockley radial tyres.
Carburettors rebuilt and balanced.
Bare metal repaint in mid 1990's with photos on file.
Hands free phone/ stereo fitted.
Many things I have probably forgotten.
The car comes with a huge history file and I have known it most of my adult life. I would happily drive it anywhere. It drives excellently with bags of torque and everything is just right. The car had a very high quality paint job in the 1990's which is showing its age. Microblistering on the bonnet, one or two blebs here and there and some rust which could do with addressing. I use it every week so I may get round to painting it one day, I may not.
Price is a stab in the dark but it should be there or thereabouts. Everyone knows that prices have fallen but there is a bottom line for everyone and whilst this one could do with some paintwork, I'd be surprised if you would find a better one mechanically and with such history and long term ownership. Only for sale as I want a car that I have the opportunity to buy so it is a straight sale and I cannot take a part exchange.
