Description

1969 Porsche 912, Rare non sunroof LWB made for 1 year only, with the longer wheel base body of the 911.

Welcome to the sale of my Porsche 912. I bought the car this year from its long term UK owner. I have now decided to buy an F model 911. Originally a Californian car, It has been in the UK for nearly 10 years.

It had a full body restoration which involved media blasting it to bare metal. Any rust issues were cut out and replaced with new metal work. The car has new floors, suspension pans, side sills, jacking points, new wings, a new fuel tank and support. All badges and lights were replaced, as well as the grill set. All underside and cavities were treated with POR15 before 3M Undercoat was applied . All fasteners were refurbished or replaced.

Engine:

Fully rebuilt to 1776CC by Competition Engineering. Upgrades include JE Pistons, Nuetec camshaft, Shasta full flow oil system with remote oil filter, Mocal thermostatic oil cooler, polished aluminium velocity stacks, K&N Air filters, Summit racing fuel lines, Stainless steel hard fuel lines, Pertonix electronic ignition in a Bosch 050 Mechanical distributor, Emory Motorsport Bosch Alternator, Performance Products starter motor with improved relay. Reconditioned rocker arms, new lifters, rods, lightened flywheel and crank were installed, heads were restored. Solex Carbs were rebuilt and port matched to both manifolds. Rebuilt fuel pump, all the carb linkages were re-bushed. The engine tin wear was powder coated, and some parts anodised. Custom Iconel exhaust system was made (sounds wonderful). Odyssey light weight dry cell battery with battery cut off switch. A higher quality engine heat pad was also fitted.

The gearbox was disassembled, checked, and reassembled with new seals and gaskets. Both stub axles were rebuilt, all new bushes in the shifter and linkages. The clutch, clutch cable, pressure plate and release bearing were also replaced.

Suspension:

All components removed, media blasted and painted, new wheel bearings. New KYB shock absorbers, poly bushes, 16mm 911 front torsion bar with Tarret Engineering drop links, turbo tie rod ends, Boge front struts, 77-88 911 adjustable rear spring plates. There is also a Tarret engineering front strut brace.

Brakes:

Calipers refurbished, new discs and pads, new hoses and hard lines throughout, new master cylinder. Rebuilt pedal box with new bushes.

Wheels/ Tyres:

Genuine 911S 6" x 15" Fuchs wheels, Spare wheel is a 6x15 replica Fuchs. 5 x Pirelli Cinturato P1 tyres, all 6mm plus (spare unused)

Interior:

Seats stripped to bare-metal and, re-foamed/ haired, repainted and rebuilt. Covers are hand sewn with the correct factory look perforations but using a higher quality materials. Dashboard re-trimmed in black leatherette. Woven dash section replaced with new pieces. Inter-Mechanica RS-style door cards, new headlining with reconditioned sun visors, new OEM looking Perlon carpets with new soundproofing. Inertia reel seat belts were fitted, rear seats delete. Aluminium pedal boards and a carbon fibre bulk head cover were fitted. New "frunk" carpet. The original Blaupunkt radio is present, and still works!

This is a fantastic car to own and drive. In 1969 Porsche realised that by extending the wheelbase of the 911, it would improve handling. The 912, for that year only was also given the LWB treatment. This car makes an estimated 115bhp; more than a 911E of the same age, whilst weighing nearly 100kgs less. The engines are far - simpler and cheaper to maintain. The engine rebuild with all ancillaries would cost £15k alone. The wheels are "gold dust" I have not seen a set of Genuine 911 S wheels for sale

Recently, I have given the car an oil change using Valvoline VR1, rebuilt the carbs with new jets, gaskets and seals, Improved the fuel filter and replaced the spark plugs. I have refurbished the Fuchs wheels and finished them in the correct satin-gloss with new lug nuts. The ride height was set to 911S height, arch lips professionally rolled, refurbished the steering wheel, replaced the original Sugar Scoop headlamps with later (and prettier) H4 units. To improve electrics, I have improved all fuse connections and the earth and live wire to the battery. I had the car "Pre-MOT'd" to understand if it needed anything, only a few items had to be resolved before getting a proper MOT done - it passed with zero advisories. Finally, the car was recently tuned at 912 specialist "Revival Cars". I've probably spent over £2000 recently.

It comes with 2 sets of keys, spare wheel and tyre, a substantial history file. It is classed as a Historic vehicle, thus exempt from MOTs and Road Tax. Insurance is also relatively cheap (under £200).

Whilst the car is in excellent condition, it was restored 15-20 years ago, and has been used regularly since, including trips to Europe. It is also 55 years old, so please bear that in mind when considering the overall condition.
