Description

385 NOJ Bought in 1964, the original owner had a 56yr long and endearing relationship with this TR4, enjoying the car with his wife. During the couple's ownership of the car, it's clear the car saw a high level of care, ranging from the usual maintenance to a stripped-down restoration.
It retains its original logbook, as well as a list of tasks & maintenance, including its first restoration in 1978. A respray followed in 1980 and the engine was reconditioned in 1995. A further restoration was carried out in 2014 and there is evidence of regular maintenance and upkeep over the last 10 years. Plus a new hood. The car has been garaged throughout its life.
The sixty spoke wire wheels on the TR4 match the car really well and are a factory fitted option as confirmed by the BMI heritage certificate.
The car tyres are in good condition with a respectable amount of tread.
The body, sill, boot floor, engine compartment and inner wings are all good condition. In terms of corrosion, the caris in good condition.
Paint coverage is great and looks nice. Theres a few blemishes and some signs of micro-blistering that need a proper mop and polish and a little paint bubbling on the drivers side door, which may be worth addressing. Overall, the TR4 is a really lovely looking car and with a little attention, would bring the car up to an excellent standard. It also has a white tonneau cover.
Windscreen, side windows, mirrors and lenses are all in good condition. Chrome trim across the exterior is in a fairly good condition, with no major concerns.
The seats are relatively simple but comfortable, the white piping around the seat edging is a lovely touch but does show with a few splits to the edge. Both the drivers and passengers seats are in good condition but there is a small rip on the under edge of the drivers seat which is worth some reconstructive work for the future owner to consider.
The dash area is clean and presentable showing without cracking, warping or distress. The car has previously been converted to accommodate a positive earth ignition kit, with a new dynamo and control box. The electrics are all in good working order.
Clocks and dials showed nicely and the display on these sections showed are all functional and original. The steering wheel and wooden gear knob are in good condition, with limited signs of wear. I have a new spare gearstick gator as well.

The well-maintained engine has seen a considerable amount of attention over the years, which also included the addition of an electronic ignition system, recent battery replacement, water pump as well as attention to the fuelling system. The engine starts first time and runs lovely

Under the bonnet is the 2. 1L four-cylinder engine, producing around 105BHP, the rear wheels are driven through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The braking system has had new brake calipers and pads and very recently has been overhalled with new master cylinder and rear cylinders by a classic car specialist as has the carbs and cooling system as I have very recently in September 24 spent another £3000 on the car with Ed Watson Classic Car Engineers. Whilst in my ownership it has only seen the occasional sunshine use on local country roads and classic car shows. I am the 3rd owner since the original and the car has done less than 1500m in the last 5 years. Its a beautiful classic car and its a reluctant sale but i really need the garage space for a new hobby/ venture.
