The original first edition 5 Cylinder Cabriolet. Was used as a daily driver until a few years ago. Since then it only ever has a short run round the block to keep things free between MOT tests.
The car is overall in good condition. It is reliable and useable on a daily basis.
The bodywork is clean and tidy. There's the odd little mark/ dink from careless half blind oldies that overpopulate where I live and seam unwilling to look where they are going when they park for their shopping! The silver paint comes up very nice after a wash and the car gives a really good first impression.
Mechanically the car is very good. The mechanical fuel injection can be troublesome but in this car it has been well serviced and maintained so it doesn't miss a beat. The fact that it passes MOT emissions is quite a feat for the old tech. It's not too bad on fuel either, mpg wise. The sound from the 5 cylinder engine is what it's all about though. It does sound sensational, a real head turner.
The interior is also in good condition however, the drivers seat does show its age. It also has a small hole in the side bolster. I recently split the plastic window in the soft-top. It is a small spit. I didn't take care when folding the roof down. The window of the soft top can be replaced.
The car has just passed the MOT. It took 2 attempts as the headlights refused to work on 1st go. Corrosion in the steering wheel stalk switch assembly was the culprit.
Who ever buys the car can now just drive it away. The car was originally bought for my partner to drive when they passed their test about 6 years ago. It is not a car that I would buy for myself, although I'm quite happy being seen in it with the roof down! People always comment and say how nice it is to see one. There are plenty of variants of the original Cabriolet about, but very few 5 Cylinder ones still exist. It really is a very rare car that sounds glorious and looks classy.
