General condition was good following 18 years of dry storage. Needed a good clean. New battery fitted. Plugs removed & engine bores oiled, engine turned over manually. Old fuel drained, new fuel added. Rubber fuel lines & fuel filter replaced. Fuel pump freed up. carburettors stripped, cleaned & rebuilt with new seals & diaphragms. Electronic ignition inspected, cleaned, repaired & tested. All wheels removed, cleaned, de-rusted, painted & new tyres fitted. Wheel trims repainted. Air filter housing & cam covers removed, cleaned & painted, new gaskets fitted.
Removed thermostat, back flushed cooling system & radiator. Cleaned expansion bottle. Fitted new thermostat & sender , refilled with anti- freeze. Starter motor failed, was removed, rebuilt & refitted.
Engine started, running well, no smoke or bangs. Engine oil & filter change. Gearbox & diff oils topped up. Underside inspection carried out. Front wheel bearing adjusted. New rear shock absorbers fitted.
Braking system overhaul; front calipers sent out for refurbishment, rear brakes serviced. PDWA unit serviced, all flexible hydraulic pipes replaced, fluid change & system bled. New windscreen wipers & washer pump fitted. New radiator fitted & water pump rebuilt.
Rear bumper removed & rechromed, plus front center section. New black & silver number plates fitted. New fuel sender fitted. 65k miles 1 owner car.
A concours winner prior to 18 years dry storage, now recommissioned with a fresh MOT.
£2, 600 spent on parts and 180 hours spent on recommissioning. Records of work done have been kept.
An original unmolested vehicle, the only modifications are Lumenition electronic ignition and an electric radio aerial.
The bodywork is dent & scratch free, the interior is as new, carpets show some wear.
The hardtop is perfect inside and outside, the soft top has 1 small hole in the side, otherwise as new.
The car is now ready for the new owner to use and finish to his personal liking.
