I have for sale my ex British Army 1965 88 Series IIA Short Wheel Base Landrover with new Roamer Overdrive fitted.
Please note mileage listed is from the odometer and is likely to not be true mileage.
Hand painted in olive green by previous owner with some patina of paintwork in the rear tub.
Exterior panels in good condition with some normal denting for a vehicle of this age. Galvanized front bumper in great condition.
The chassis is the original and in good condition but has rear section replaced like so many of this age. Lanoguard grease and spray chassis protection applied in summer of 2023.
The original wiring loom is intact and functional.
New Dynamo fitted in late 2023.
Soft Top is in good condition and fitted onto galvanized frame. Neat interior with seats in good condition. Original Dash spec with Military ignition / light switch.
Falkien Wild Peak 205/ 80R16 Tyres fitted with plenty of tread.
Starts and runs great.
I have owned for nearly two years and added minimum mileage (650 miles) with varied restoration improvements made as listed below.
Minimal steering play allows easy and confident driving.
4-wheel drive high and low are fully functional. Rare military example with original B card ( Vehicle Data Card) obtained from military archives. This document confirms that the vehicle was used in the British Army of the Rhine BAOR and thus was originally configured for LHD.
Note: RHD would have been done most after decommissioning from military use when it returned to the UK.
It has a synchro gearbox (likely late 2A or 3) which removes the need for double de clutch gear changes and thus is much easier to drive.
It has a military rear crossmember with tow hitch and trailer light socket.
It has the rare military head lights and glass indicator, park light and brake lights.
Minimal steering play allows easy and confident driving.
4-wheel drive high and low are fully functional.
Original Oil radiator still functional with working oil temp gauge. (The quirky and well known oil chimes from this configuration are present at low revs when oil is still cold :-) )
Has a brand new second fuel tank installed with changeover valve but not connected.
New Roamer-drive overdrive fitted to facilitate a much more pleasant driving experience!
Also Fitted an additional Roamer drive dip stick to the gear box for easy oil level checking.
New roamer-drive transfer case sump cover also fitted which removed well known leaks from original sump cover.
New Dynamo fitted in 2023.
Quality Rubber mats included for footwells.
Stormforce waterproof cover is included.
Multiple grommet, clips and screw replacements. Various nut, bolt replacements
Both rear diff seals replaced, new rear brake pistons, shoes and drums fitted.
I have parts for front brake replacement as bought as a front and rear kit but never fitted yet as were not required.
Rear tub rust points treated and repaired with aluminium rails with installation of tie down points.
New drive shafts front and rear installed.
New Roamer-drive overdrive fitted to facilitate a much more pleasant driving experience!
Installation of shoulder Seatbelts for driver and passenger with galvanised mounts.
Crank start handle purchased.
Jack and spares box installed in rear tub will be included in sale.
Restoration of gauge dials, new gauge lamps fitted. Note, the series 3 fuel gauge was fitted with the vehicle when I bought it. I looked to covert this back to original but swapped back as the Series3 gauge as could not get the original gauge to operate reliably.
New heater piping installed.
Installed electronic variable fan controller for heater fan.
Drained and flushed water-cooling system when purchased with new green coolant for full wintering.
Choke lamp restored to operation with new sensor.
New Engine Temp gauge fitted and connected to existing sensor in head
Radiator muffler cover added for winter driving.
Various spares and gaskets will be included with sale.

Items still to be done, two wheel bolts need replacing (1 front left and the other front right. Front left cab outrigger has rust and will need replacing at some stage.
