1976 Reliant Scimitar SE6 – Manual overdrive
Genuine low mileage car with only 47, 900 miles from new with old MOT’s going back to 1987 to verify. Now tax and MOT exempt.
Since buying this car in 2020 I have fitted:
• Aluminium radiator with electric fan, new water pump and Evans waterless coolant (now sits at just above 90 even in the hottest weather)
• Steel timing gear
• Reconditioned front brake callipers
• Grooved front brake discs
• New windscreen and door seals
• New clutch master cylinder with braided hydraulic house
• Braided oil pressure gauge house
• Custom stainless-steel exhaust (sounds awesome under acceleration but is plenty quiet at motorway speeds so best of both worlds)
• Electronic distributor
• Electronic fuel pump
• Modern radio and new door speakers
• 4 Hankook tyres (covered around 8000 miles since fitting)
Car comes with loads of receipts for parts bought and work done myself and previous owners.
She is mechanically sound with great oil pressure and a good, strong engine and gearbox which pulls really well through all the gears and overdrive and will happily cruise all day at 80mph, even with a full load!
I’m selling her as a rolling restoration as despite her good mechanicals she’s looking a little tired with a few chips and cracks in the paintwork as well as needing new carpets. The front suspension has also developed a bit of a creak that hasn’t been resolved by greasing up the grease points so my guess is she’s ready for new bushes. The chassis is solid and has been undersealed in 2020 but would need redoing is planning to use over winter.
I have loved this car for the last four years but in the last 18 months she’s covered less than 1000 miles as I’ve just not had the time to enjoy her since going self employed and now she’s just occupying space that I could otherwise use.
Any inspection welcome and she’s more than capable of being driven away today.
