Description
This 1977 Yamaha XS750-2D is probably one of the most original unmolested examples in existence even down to the original rust free exhaust system. Originally supplied by Jack Lilley of London in August 1977 it still bears the Jack Lilley mudguard transfer and Jack Lilley brass plaque on the offside side panel. All of the paintwork appears absolutely original and is as you would expect of a well looked after near 50 year old machine. This actual bike has been the subject of magazine articles and is featured in the reference book Superbikes of the Seventies. It would appear from one of these articles that the factory modifications have been carried out and is a well sorted machine, the present owner has used the bike now sporting a fly screen, different handlebars and electronic ignition and cannot find fault with what is now a classic mount, it starts, runs, rides and does all that it should right down to the under seat storage box and self cancelling indicators. The original bars and points plate have been kept and are included with the bike as will be the owners manual, parts list, sales brochure, magazines and other assorted paperwork, it even comes with the often lost loose oil dipstick for the shaft drive box. The recorded mileage of 12067 appears to be correct with past MOT documents V5C and registered as Historic. This is one of those bikes from the seventies that everybody remembers but is now very rarely seen on the road, is capable of modern day speeds and riding and always causes interest from fellow riders and even drivers of the age.
