Description
Originally supplied by Henlys of London in July 1955, this car has an impressive pedigree, with its second owner being none other than former Jaguar Works driver Duncan Hamilton. His son Adrian has confirmed that the car was frequently driven by his mother.
Since 1979, it has had just three owners, with the current one in possession since 1998. It comes with an extensive history of restoration and maintenance, supported by a comprehensive set of documents. The car’s color was changed to silver from its original factory Birch Grey, as shown in photographs documenting the original paint. Remarkably, the bodywork required minimal attention, a rarity for a UK-supplied XK. Included are invoices from renowned specialists like CMC Ltd, as well as many old MOT certificates and tax discs. The car was even featured in The Automobile magazine.
I’ve used the car regularly and made a few thoughtful modifications to enhance its performance, most notably upgrading to a 5-speed gearbox, though the original 4-speed unit will be included in the sale. Six years ago, the car underwent a full body re-spray, during which I returned it to its original Birch Grey colour. Paired with its well-preserved red interior, it now resembles how it would have appeared when it first left the factory. I also added front disc brakes, a significant improvement over the original drum brakes.
The reason for selling is a growing family and the need for more garage space. You're welcome to come view this true gem in person.
