W673RKM was registered in June 2000 and bought by a company called Pine Showrooms of London as the MD's car. He kept it until February 2002 when it was sold to a Mr Potts of Kent. The history shows that the MD was a friend of Mr Potts. Who then sold the car in 2008 through the BMW dealer network and it found it's way to Sytner, Oldbury. But the car was bought by a Mr Kynes of the New Forest in Hampshire, near Southampton, and there it has stayed. He kept it until 2022 when it was bought by a respected local independent garage owner, who registered the car in his name while he fitted new rear arches and a new petrol tank. The car was sold later that year to Mr Head, who sold it to me in 2023. He saw the car at the garage and just had to have it, as did I a year later when I asked if he'd sell it to me. I'm only selling as I have too many classic cars and not enough space! So, 5 previous owners but a no expense spared history.
The car has full service history and I have every MOT since the first one in 2003 (2006 onwards are available online but I have 2003-05 as well!) Every tax disc since new also comes with the car along with lots of receipts for work done and parts bought since new to date. So, service book is stamped up with 13 stamps, a full book pack of manuals etc, every MOT & tax disc since new and other paperwork. Car also comes with 3 original keys.
Since I've had the car I have had any areas of lacquer peel repainted, any damaged trims replaced, fitted a new battery and just had the car fully serviced including spark plugs.
This is on top of the 2022 work of a new petrol tank (only common issue with E38's) and both rear arches being sorted.
It now has 11 months MOT.
The car presents really well in metallic burgundy and champagne leather inside, totally belies it's mileage, which is only 7000 a year as this classic is now almost 25 years old. Especially inside where the headlining is immaculate (not a sag in sight!) and the seats have no rips or tears. The car still has it's factory fitted first aid kit that is still in the plastic wrapping and it's BMW torch in the glovebox. Back seats look like they've never been sat in! Plus full tool kit in the boot. Only minor thing, if I'm being picky, is the veneer on the top of the gear knob is cracking, but this is common and I tried to get another second hand one on Ebay but it was worse than mine, so I left it!
The climate controlled air con is ice-cold (better than my 6 month old company car!) and the multi-function steering wheel, memory electric seats, parking sensors etc all work. The only interior items that no longer function are the optional television and car phone (which I'm told just needs a Vodafone sim card, but I've never tried!) The mileage display is very dull and hard to read in poor light but I have the strip to fix this, just never got round to doing it as it didn't bother me.
On the exterior, there are the usual few age related stone chips etc but these have all been touched in over the years to prevent rust. Again, if I'm being picky, you can tell that the rear arches have been sorted as, in certain lights, the rear quarters look a very slightly different shade, but not noticeable 90% of the time. I was pleased to see this as it proved what I'd been told about the rear arches!
All in all, a very usable car with 11 months MOT, makes you feel like a Lord driving along with the straight six, great condition, just serviced and full history. So, come and grab this classic BMW before everyone sees all the reviews on the internet saying what a great car the 728i E38 is and they rocket in value!Full service history, every old MOT & tax disc and other paperwork plus full book pack and 3 keys, as per above.
