1955 AJS Model 18S 500cc single
My Father and i restored this bike , we were restoring the bike for my father to use but unfortunately he passed away this year .
All original metalwork
The Magneto was fully rebuilt by tony Cooper
1955 was a one year only type frame and the engine number is 55 18S 274##. comes with photos of restoration , some invoices and an original instruction manual. V5C in my name
I recall my father took the crankshaft to a local expert who took the crankshaft to bits and we were told it was in very good condition but while the crank was in bits we had new rollers put in.
The Barrell was in excellent order so obtained some new old stock hepolite rings and installed them, piston is on 20 oversize. New Main Bearings installed. new inlet and exhaust valves fitted and valve seats cut
The Gearbox was taken to bits , new bearings , seals and gaskets fitted
Forks were rebuilt with new parts as necessary as were tge jampots
Wheels have been rebuilt with stainless spokes , relined brake linings and new tyres
New Exhaust Systen , , all new cables and chains , seat, exhaust system
All New electrics work , bike charges when running, even the original lucas altette horn works, has a very expensive original dip switch. twin centre stand fitted for ease
all parts have been painted , frame was powder coated and the rest two pack painted
starts eaisly , all gears work , clutch is smooth, speedo is smooth
much , much more spent than asking price of £4, 000
