So, where to start. This is the write up for my beloved MK2 Golf which I’m regrettably selling. This car is known in the MK2 scene and is appreciated by many, something I’m very proud of and forever grateful for all the help I’ve received along the journey from like minded enthusiasts.

A full underside restoration was completed in March 2023, taking 13 months. Car was fully stripped back to a bare shell, interior floor pan stripped and treated in Raptor Epoxy and Raptor 2k. Underside had new o/ s inner and outer sill and rear wheel arch to remove any rust (this was minimal and have photos to show). Any light surface rust was treated with Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, zinc primer and 3 coats of Upol Gravitex to provide a lovely matt finish. Engine bay had two new trays and all unnecessary holes on bulkhead welded followed by a professional engine bay respray costing £1500.

BBS RM026 wheels. 7" all round with 20mm spacers on the rear. A rare set with these specs.

Upon rebuilding the car, every part such as subframe, crossmember, rear axle, wishbones (seam welded), brake compensator etc were powdercoated in satin black. All nuts and bolts were zinc coated also. New polybush mounts all round, including poweflex top mounts. G60 brakes with Brembo discs and pads. Rear brakes are standard GTi. KW V1 coilovers all round, along with the Noath Precision flip kit (helps prevent bump steer). Exhaust system is a full 3” Trackslag including the 3” downpipe straight off the turbo, these exhausts are a common upgrade on a MK2 and sound incredible.

When rebuilding the interior, dodo matt sound deadening was applied front to back followed by a factory replica sound proofing kit from Type19 store. All carpets were professionally cleaned and the drivers footwell matt was removed and a new one retrimmed. Seats are Ford Recaro retrimmed in VW Driver cloth, a lovely tartan pattern not often seen. Matching door cards to suit. Headliner and sun visors were retrimmed in 2020 in Alacantra material which looks the part. Wooden Nardi steering wheel and a AEM turbo gauge. A nice handy cup holder has been installed which pops out one of the heater vents. Heater box itself was removed, stripped and rebuilt and the matrix was also replaced.

Engine itself is from an Audi S3, code BAM. 225 standard but has been mapped by Tuning Technics (arguably the best in the game) to a comfortable 262bhp running 17psi. It could produce more, but I didn’t want to push it and to be honest, it’s plenty fun as it is. Vibratechnics mounts all round so it’s nice and solid. Direnza radiator, FMIC and a Revotec 12” fan. Gearbox is an O2A which I had fully rebuilt with a Quaife LSD, costing over £1700, the shifter itself is a 02J. The gearstick is a Coolerworx short shifter, probably my favourite mod on the car. Expansion tank is on the side of the block and was purchased from Gray Fab based in America, these look awesome as takes away the need for a plastic expansion tank. Catch can has also been fitted so filters out any nasty deposits. ProRAM large cone filter and a Forge 008 dump valve which sounds awesome. The engine bay really does look the part.

New brake and fuel lines, fuel filter and internal fuel pump as it’s a MK3 fuel tank. Clutch is hydraulic, fluid runs from the brake reservoir. Accelerator pedal is electronic so using a DBW pedal bracket. Rear wiper has been deleted and boot lid resprayed in its original colour (L041). The battery is in the boot, along with the washer bottle for the front windscreen. The early MK2’s came with a separate washer bottle for the rear window, so we’ve used this to power the front washers.

The car was fully resprayed back in 2019 just prior to me purchasing the car, and still to this day comes up so clean with a good polish. There are a couple of small areas where the filler has started to craze but nothing significant. The front wings themselves are clean, but could do with replacing. I have two spare wings in very good condition that can go with the sale, they just need preparing and professionally respraying.

I’ve missed loads, I know I have. I have receipts totalling thousands, I spared no expense when building this car as I wanted to do it once and properly. I have lots of printed photos in album showing all the steps of the restoration. I even have receipts and service history from the Audi that the engine was removed from. I’ve only had this car back on the road since March 2023 and taken it to many shows, it’s never failed to put a smile on my face and I’ll be absolutely gutted to see it go.

Recently I've had the alternator, fuel rail, inlet manifold and expansion tank fully polished a coated in Cerakote. I was planning on keeping the car however due to a change in personal circumstance and needing to move home, that takes priority.

If you're seriously interested then please drop me a message.

Thanks for reading.
