Description
For sale here is my 1972 Triumph Spitfire MkIV.
It’s an early black dash MkIV in Saffron with black vinyl interior.
85152 miles.
The car is just out of long-term storage. It’s been stored away since 1998 and will now need some work before going back on the road and is therefore being sold as a project.
As you can see in the photos it’s a very original car and, as far as I’m aware it’s completely standard with all the right bits in the right places. Totally unmolested and period correct, the ideal starting point for a project I think.
Externally it still has its original steel front quarter valances and centre valance. There is rust in some of the usual places but overall, I’d say it looks very good. Please study the photos yourself as they are the best guide to its overall condition and ask if you need photos of anything specific.
The interior is complete apart from a piece of carpet behind the seats. There’s still a period radio fitted plus the original steering wheel and even the Britax static seat belts and hangers.
After being stored, the engine (the original) doesn’t now seem to want to turn over. It may well free up with a bit of persuasion and mechanical knowhow.
Overall, I think this is a great project for someone looking to restore a nice original Spitfire that’s laid untouched for such a long time and hasn’t been messed about with.
I have the current V5 logbook, owner’s handbook, its last MOT certificate and last tax disc all here with the car. Being over 40 years old it’s of course now eligible as tax and MOT exempt.
Sensible questions and viewings are welcome. I’ve described it as honestly as I can but please come and have a look at it for yourself if you’re interested, then you can see exactly how it is. Remember that it will need to be trailered home.
I’m located close to Chichester on the south coast.
