Description
Imported from Texas in 1989, the car was dry stored until 2010 when a full rebuild to UK specification started. The work was completed in 2016, and since then the car has been rarely used.
When stripped to a bare shell the body was found to be totally rust free, the only repair being necessary was the n/ s footwell. The body was stripped back to bare metal and a immaculate respray was carried out in the Triumph period colour of Jasmine yellow. The chassis was shot blasted and painted black.
Mechanically the car was in poor condition, having suffered from some heavy handed work in America. All components were individually stripped, refurbished and or replaced. The engine has been stripped and rebuilt to UK PI specification. The gearbox was rebuilt with new bearings and later stronger bushes, and an overdrive added.
The electrics have been updated with a new loom and additional relays, together with an integrated alarm.
Internally the car has a full black leather trim, using the original American high back seat frames.
Originally the car came only with a tonneau cover, but a hard top has been fitted with improved fixings.
Overall the car is in superb condition, and drives very well. The car was bought as a project, my love of Triumphs being in the rebuilding of classic sports cars. The car is a real head turner . The only reason for selling is to make space for my latest Triumph project!
