1988 E registration Mercedes 300SL (R107) in smoke silver (MB colour code 501) with desirable cream tartan / MBTex interior.
104, 000 miles- has covered a consistent mileage of 2-3000 miles per year and been in constant use. Well maintained with recent service. I bought this car last year from the previous long term owner who had maintained it to a high standard (note £1200 service in 2022). I bought it with a specific trip in mind- a friend’s wedding in Tuscany. So I prepared it for her European road trip, and drove it from London to Italy (Rimini) via the Swiss alps, covering over 3000 miles with no problems whatsoever. She wears her 2023 Swiss tax vignette with pride! Comes with original hardtop, also in great condition.
Mechanically in great shape- please check out the MOT history online, with no advisories and a very clean history over the past decade.
One weak point when I bought her was a corroded exhaust. I’ve therefore treated her to a full stainless steel system by Haywood and Scott, a UK based custom exhaust manufacturer who have made a nice quiet system that will last for years.

Overall, in superb condition inside and out. This is a very useable example of this superb car. There are some imperfections such as a small dent in the chrome (around 2cm) on the front bumper and a small patch of rust (around 4cm) on the boot floor where the spare wheel sits. The front wings have been painted at some point in her life and it certain lights the colour March is imperfect.
I have had 4 of these over the years and in my opinion the 300 is the pick of the range. Quiet, reliable, plenty of power and not particularly thirsty. I have covered 5000 miles in my ownership with no trouble whatsoever. I adore Mercedes of this era from their quality.
Only selling because I have an identical one in blue black, which is an old friend.
The registration TVF 999 is not included in the asking price, but I am not attached to it and it can be sold by separate negotiation .
I am open to sensible offers. Otherwise I’ll store her over the winter.
