Serviced recently and regularly. Regularly visiting BL Autos, the specialists in these cars, for rectification work as things have cropped up.
I bought this in May 21 to use when I was at home as I had a job abroad half of the time— I understand the previous owner had fallen ill so it had not been used much for a few years. Recommissioned at home and then at BL Autos, it worked pretty well almost immediately.
My son was born in April 22, so the C6 became the rather unlikely family car, which it performed pretty well at, with my wife driving it most of the time! I came back to work in the UK in January 23 and the C6 then stepped up again and became my daily commuter car. Going from Sunday driver to daily use meant that all of its niggles have now been sorted, as you can see from the service history below— its cost me a fortune. Basically, proper regular use has brought everything out of the woodwork and it is now sorted and should be a great performer for its new owner. Its not the right car now for me to be blasting to work every day in though, as it is a little thirsty being the V6 petrol, even with its LPG conversion, so the time has come to move it on to a new owner and I get some thing more economical.
It has recent spheres and suspension work and much more and BL Autos reckon it rides as well as a C6 can, which I am pleased about. Also, there are no faults in the Lexia read outs that they do, which they say is very unusual, especially with the suspension. Other highlights are that it is recently serviced, the front hubs have been updated to the later design and the tyres & brakes have plenty life left. Small things that make it feel fresh are the door check straps all being new (essential when getting baby in and out I found) and the wing mirrors being new photochromic ones so they dim nicely down at night as they would when new. As I have done a lot of night driving with it, it is fantastic with all three mirrors dimmed right down and the dashboard set to night mode with just the speedometer and head up display on.
A few marks on the paint as you would expect of a big car of this age but nothing major. Have a look at the photos and come and visit to satisfy yourself. Its a nice drive and it does handle as well as float. This is my second petrol C6. I regretted selling my first one and was pleased to find this one as I didn’t fancy the diesel as it seemed a bit noisy to me after I test drove a few.
C6 Exclusive, top specification means it has 6-speed automatic gearbox, leather upholstery, reclining rear seats (lounge pack) and the better JBL sound system.
Upcoming work:
Timing belt due in 2026 on time not mileage (10 year interval). Have been recommend by BL Autos that getting the VVT actuator replaced at the same time is wise as it makes a rattle noise on cold start for 1 second before it settles down. No point in doing it early.
Plenty of tread on the Uniroyal Rain Expert tyres but when they are due a change, I’d recommend getting the wheels refurbished at the same time. BL quoted me £75/ wheel for this. Again, no point in doing early. Tyres have done 15, 000 miles, rotated 6, 000 miles ago to try to make them wear out evenly.
