All the leather and briar interiors are original with the exception of the carpets, which were redone completely new very recently. Colour combination and chassis and engine numbers match the original specifications. The fastest sedan of the 1960s. In the early 1960s, Giulio Alfieri began work on a completely new project. Drawing inspiration from the success of his GranTurismo cars, Maserati began to think about a saloon. The new Quattroporte naturally had to offer the same level of elegance, refinement, power and performance as Maserati's other products. With a top speed of 230 km/ h, it was the fastest saloon at the time. The design was the work of stylist Pietro Frua, who was inspired by the 5000GT, while the bodies were built by Vignale. The car had a modern metal monocoque structure with sheet-metal box sections instead of the traditional tubular chassis, and the 4. 2-litre V8 engine was derived from the unit used on the 5000GT. Seven of these cars were built with an engine capacity upgraded to 4. 7 litres. Among the Quattroporte's most famous clients were Anthony Quinn, Marcello Mastroianni, Alberto Sordi and Prince Rainier III of Monaco.
