Description
An early series 3 Land Rover in everyday use, tax and MOT exempt. Many new parts in my 6 years of ownership including clutch, exhaust, injectors, brakes and bearings. The mileometer states 129, 000 miles but it has been stuck on that since I bought it. I've fitted a 5 bearing diesel engine which is quite smokey from cold. It will jump out of 4th gear occasionally, annoyingly this is only since I changed the selector seals. It's also quite noisy in the indirect gears. If it's a component that has oil in it, it leaks oil from it!! That is apart from the swivels which have been rebuilt and the steering relay which is new and required a new front crossmember. The dumb irons are new as well. The chassis has plenty of patches on it, but the rear cross member looks to have been replaced reasonably recently. The chassis has partially been painted in my ownership. The bulkhead is good, though the footwells have been patched. Interestingly it has the quite rare Peretti (I think) rear lights!I've owned for 6 years and I'll genuinely be sad to see it go. I often use it for the 100 mile round trip to the office, most recently 2 weeks ago. It has never let me down. But realistically I don't have the time to treat it as it deserves to be! The description I've given makes it sound quite bad, but I'm trying to be honest. I'm not a mechanic! The panels are mostly straight, and it would look good resprayed, however I love the patina and personally wouldn't do that.
