Description
1989 classic Mini city,
1 mile brand new built from boxes from Longbridge
It’s a bit of a long story, so please read
I bought a mini minus from a guy who was a draughtsman at Rover in the 80s/ 90s
He ordered the shell then he bought everything to build it up from Rover in 1988/ 1989. And I mean everything, but never built it, with the amount of new parts I decided to go a different route, so I bought (after ages of looking) a 1989 Shell that had never had a panel on it, original floors sills etc etc, the shell was then professionally painted on a roll over jig inside outside underneath it’s all painted the same.
I have receipts from rover for most of the parts inc the receipt for the engine with numbers on.
new engine, subframes, suspension, wiring loom, ancillaries, etc etc basically nearly every part.
It’s the closest to a new one I think you’re ever going to find. Even the wheels Tyres and trims are Rover supplied and are what it would have left the factory on.
The 1989 interior is in perfect condition, with seats, belts, carpet, etc is all like new.
To be honest, the mini is a museum piece as it’s completely standard and how a city from 1989 would’ve been sold.
its done a 1 mile shakedown for the MOT.
It’s really hard to put a value on it as it’s not a restored car. It’s basically brand-new 90% of it is New, Rover New.
my garage looked like the production line from LongBridge putting it all together.
If you’re seriously interested come and see it, it’s like stepping back in time and seeing one in an Austin Rover dealership in 1989. I don’t know what to write other than come and see it. It would suit any classic car collection or use it, knowing you’re the first person to drive the engine, gearbox and mechanicals ever. please get in touch If you’re interested I have a rough price in mind for which I would sell for around the advertised price.
