We at Peak 2cv are very proud to offer this extremely rare and lovely, 1970 2cv4 for sale, on behalf of its long-term owner. This car is one of the many blue 2cvs that were run by the Belgian Midwifery service, and still features their logos on the doors.
Finished in its original Bleu Thasos, this 2cv4 (435cc) was imported in 1979 by Lovekyn Garage (a well-known importer of 2cvs at the time), and given a 1979 T-registration number, as was common practise then. It was then bought by its current owner, Rob, an enthusiast, and 2CVGB member of many years. Over the intervening years, the car changed hands between Rob and his friend Alistair (also a customer of ours), and back to Rob again. Alistair lived in France for several years, and fitted a new Citroen chassis to the car in this time. He also asked us to rebuild the engine, in 2021. Rob subsequently took ownership of the car again later that year, but has decided that the time has come to reduce the number of 2cvs in his ownership, and this is one that sadly has to go.
This 2cv4 has all of its original features, such as front bench seat, front drum brakes (which are working perfectly), "batteurs" all round and front friction dampers, "Quillery" steering wheel, "slam" locks, and the oblong front indicators which had previously been fitted to certain models only, and were only fitted to the very first of the "new" 2cv4 and 2cv6 for a few months in 1970, before they changed to the familiar conical units.
This 2cv is a real enthusiasts' model, and is quite a different beast to the 1980s 2cv6 that we're all more familiar with. However, it is a very usable car, and its significance and rarity cannot be overstated. This is therefore a very exciting opportunity to purchase and cherish an almost unique car.
