Description
Remember these as road and rallly cars in the 70’s? Those were the 160j’s that won so many rallies, including the Safari Rally.
This is the 140j, a rare (only 2 cars registered in the UK), time warp, unrestored example.
Only 2 owners from new (first owner for 45 years). The car was in storage for 12 years, but is now recommissioned…. runs beautifully & reliably.
It is MOT, ULEZ & road tax exempt, but comes with an MOT until March 2025.
This is such a nostalgic car…. i remember being picked up from school in one. I love its simplicity, but most of all, it drives so well…but isn’t that what Datsuns are know for? It’s smooth, & light weight…the steering and gear changes are effortless. Plenty of space in the back, and a decent boot…if only everything in life was this simple and easy.
Whilst the car can be used as a daily driver (and I have), the next owner could improve the bodywork…one wing is poorly repaired, and there is rust in various places (eg door bottoms), but the car is mechanically refreshed & reliable.
Overall a wonderful rare car that always draws attention…almost everyone knows someone who had one ‘back in the day’…
I will be sad to see this one go, but it’s been a pleasure and I need the space! The first owner (for 45 years) clearly loved this car. There are only two left on the road in the UK, so he must have looked after it.
It comes with its original books etc., some documents, including sales brochure and the recent MOT certificate.
A recent recommissioning invoice for over £1, 500 covering mechanical and welding work is also present.
Sadly, the original owner passed away, and the car was left in storage for 12 years. This is most likely when it deteriorated. However, the car has since been recommissioned & is now a reliable driver.
