Description

Prefer PX rather than sale, as I still need a car.

Sorry my latest pics oo fthe old gal look a bit grey, it was a bit soggy and dark weather wise... but the colour is best seen in the type2 pics which are a few weeks older. The other pics are the various stages of repair by type2 and the previous owner.

Lovely Beryl Green VW Beetle 1200 LHD. Import from Sweden (I think 2019) and had lots of work done by previous owner. It also featured in a Video Special by Type2Detectives who gave it a cal look. It was fab and I fell in love. Sadly reality kicked in and it was unworkable. Far too low, and hit the road at every little bump etc. Looked good but no good. I had them raise it to a usable and practical height. Again lots of money and time spent on her.

I then realised at 65 its all a bit to earthy for me! old VWs drive like tractors, are as noisy as tractors and far too busy for me. Not to mention the backache getting in and out of the darn things these days. I miss my modern auto where you can just focus on whats on the stereo haha... sigh

So if you love VWs come and have a go and see what you think.

I would love to PX for a more modern and comfy classic, say 1965 Ford etc, anything up to 1984. This vehicle is tax and MOT free, which is great peace of mind and savings in future. Though mine does have an MOT.

Just google UK Beryl Green Beetle and you will see lots of history from previous owners works etc on places like LaSamba VW forums and on the reg 780XVG

These things are a labour of love, so still plenty of work you can do if you want, or just drive it and enjoy life. I even had a couple of OAPs stop today and wave as I went past them... cool :)

It has the more modern beetle seats in teh front. The backs are original. The roof lining is complete but has "patina". I had to drag type2 kicking and screaming to do the works required post sale. They still have the original seats and wheels but want to charge for them too!! bloody cheek. I gave up in the end, poking them. One of the most timeless classics available are the beetles. Usable and a great investment forever. Its only ever gonna go up in price.
Sadly no garage here either to look after it.

Here is the type2 page I bought it from and you can see the youtube link
We took to our socials to see what we should do with this July ’62 Bug - keep it simple and leave it stock or give it the T2D treatment? With the votes in and counted, the people had spoken, and we listened. Give it the treatment…

But how do you make one of the coolest colour Beetles even cooler? The answer is a T2D four-day makeover with new wheels, a fresh stance and a vintage ski rack, which you can see on our YouTube channel here: google "IN JUST 4 DAYS!!!! A T2D 'Makeover Takeover' from stock bug to slammed resto-cal!" as it wont allow links here

L478 Beryl Green - or Beryl Grün if you want to use the German - was offered from 1960 to 1976. Weirdly, it’s a surprisingly rare colour as it’s arguably one of best factory colours you could order any air-cooled VW in.

Having rolled out of Wolfsburg back in 1962 this car was originally shipped to Sweden. It gets pretty chilly there in the winter, hence the old Eberspächer heater still in situ under the bonnet.

Before finding its way to Burwell the body had only received a minimal amount of welding and at some point, an older repaint, which now looks surprisingly original. So if you like a gentler level of patina, and a cool colour, this has the look dialled in.

Inside, it still retains its original paint on the dashboard and factory-fitted floor mats, but the tired carpets were letting the side down so are currently removed, we plan to fit new carpets soon along with some seat retrimming in the OG material, so expect a slight uplift in price once this is complete..

It’s a really honest car, which made it a deserving candidate for a makeover and whilst giving it the works we banished a few mechanical Gremlins that had snuck in.

Over the course of four days, we removed the original suspension – which we still have if the next owner would like it to go back to stock – and fitted an EVA Restos four-inch narrowed front beam with caster shims and rebuilt king pins in the dropped spindles.

The stock front drums have been upgraded for CSP zero-offset discs which now run through a dual-circuit master cylinder.

At the back we’ve fitted one-inch longer dropped spring plates. As we all know, that extra inch makes all the difference as it allows us to get the tracking bang on.

Stock length rear spring plates often cause problems in that department, but the rear end has been tweaked to perfection using our secret formula of inner and outer splines.

Rear shocks are now T2D Bilstein’s and we also installed new braided brakes lines, new rear shoes and fresh wheel cylinders.

The stock steel wheels and domed VW hub caps are still safely stored in the T2D workshop should its next keeper wish to have them, but this Beryl Bug is now rolling on EMPI stye five spokes which have had the centres painted in flat light grey.

What it lacks in altitude it now more than makes up for with attitude and drives great for such a lowered Bug.

Remodelled, revamped and ready for a new owner to accompany it on the next stage of its journey. Give us a call or email us for more info.
