1969 BSA 654cc A65L Lightning Clubman Replica
Registration no. UHA 712H
Frame no. CC19224 A65L
Engine no. CC19224 A65L
In 1965, BSA introduced the Lightning Clubman. It was a limited run of machines which were effectively a 'homologation special' to qualify for production racing, and stayed in the BSA list for only one year. Exponents with the Clubman were the likes of Mike Hailwood and Tony Smith. Inevitably, genuine ones are rare, and consequently a number of replicas have been crafted over the years. This is one of those, and, starting with an original 1969 A65 Lightning, this is a beautiful machine, which has many features of the original, and looks every inch a racer.
The wheels were rebuilt with stainless steel rims and spokes, a professional rewire was carried out, incorporating electronic ignition, separate fuses for each circuit, and a lithium battery. The frame has been blasted and repainted, the petrol tank and side panels were repainted, and the engine was rebuilt with anything needed being refurbished or replaced. The instruments were restored, and new tyres were fitted. MOT Jan 2025 but is actually exempt.
Rear sets, hump back seat, Siamese pipe, anti wet sump valve fitted with an ignition cut out switch to prevent starting whilst the oil is turned off.
Starts first or second kick.
1 x Stadium bar end mirror (new not fitted) included.
Registered as historic zero.
