According to the Centro Documentazione, Alfa Romeo A21VGE was manufactured in June 1983 in metallic light grey (AR765 grigio chiaro) with black pinstripe (nero gessata) velvet interiors.
Drives well with smooth gear changes, including 2nd. Interior in very good condition – lush velvet upholstery, recaro-style seats and bespoke floor mats.
Inspired by my older brother owning an Alfetta GTV in the 1980s my interest in Italian cars, and Alfa Romeo in particular, was born. In 2015 I became the proud owner of this one myself, having previously owned a Sud Sprint Veloce, Lancia HPE Volumex and more recently a Mito.
I bought it from the owner of Langtree Motors in Glasgow, who acquired it himself in 2004 from a long-standing customer.
I’ve enjoyed many trips to owner’s club shows across northern England and Scotland as well as twice making the 500 mile round trip to Bicester. Feted by the motoring press for Giorgetto Giugiaro’s stylish teardrop design. The 50:50 weight distribution provided by the rear transaxle, along with in-board rear discs and De Dion rear suspension provide superb handling. Coupled with the 2 litre version of Alfa’s classic twin-cam alloy ‘Nord’ engine fed by a pair of twin-choke side draught carburettors it’s a joy to drive on A roads.
