Description
This 1955 Land Rover Series 1 86" is a lovely restored example originally registered in 1955 to the Halesowen Engineering Company who converted vehicles for military contracts. , It began life as a Column Commander’s vehicle for the British Army whose job it was to lay communications cables across strategic territories. It eventually left the MOD before being fully restored in 2018. It was stripped and rebuilt whilst still being careful to preserve some of its original patina. The exterior has been rebuilt from the ground-up including sandblasting and then rebuilding where necessary. The chassis and bulkhead have been repainted and is now completely free of corrosion. The original body panels have been retained where possible to ensure it presents without an over-restored appearance. The paint is good all round and the bumpers and trim are in excellent order with refurbished wheels and new Tyres. Under the bonnet is a rebuilt 2. 0 litre Petrol engine which runs sweetly. A file of history and paperwork including a British Motor Heritage certificate confirming the production and delivery date is contained within the file, as are invoices from a well-known Series I specialist documenting many of the specific parts that were required for its restoration and a selection of photographs of the Land Rover ‘as found’ and during its restoration.
