Description
Capots Vintage, a specialist in sports and classic vehicles in Lyon, is offering for sale this magnificent 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce, an iconic roadster by Pininfarina that epitomises Italian elegance. Launched in 1966 under the name "Duetto", this model is distinguished by its elongated rear end, known as the "Coda Longa" (long tail), as opposed to the more angular "Coda Tronca" (truncated tail) versions. Delivered new in Paris on 23 January 1969 and put on the road on 11 April of the same year, this Italian is presented in excellent condition, following a complete quality restoration carried out by a specialist workshop at the end of 2023. Its Blu (blue) bodywork and Skai Amaranto (burgundy) interior faithfully reflect the original configuration, as attested by the certificate of origin. The car has had just three owners since 1988, and has been completely refurbished: the original 1750 engine has been completely overhauled, and the 5-speed gearbox overhauled. The running gear, timing gear, linkage and exhaust system were rebuilt, while the underpinnings were treated and the geometry adjusted. All the seals, bellows, silent-blocks and brackets were also replaced, while the bodywork was carefully prepared and repainted in its original blue. As shown in the photos, the floorboards have been redone, the bumpers rechromed, and the windscreen and headlight bubbles replaced, among other work. The burgundy leather has been partially restored, leaving the door panels and rear interior in very good original condition. The seats, wooden steering wheel and dashboard have all been refurbished, with the total cost of the restoration amounting to around €30, 000. We have an extensive file of invoices, enabling us to trace the vehicle's history back to 1992. One of the major assets of this restoration is the preservation of as many original parts as possible. The owner has given priority to restoring existing parts rather than replacing them. The car has covered only 3, 000 kilometres since its restoration. It is fitted with a new soft top. There are no costs involved. It can be traded in for your sports car or collector's car. Find more information and photos on our website.
