IMP RACECAR
1971 Triplex saloon car championship winning Hillman Imp
-Built & campaigned by Mike O'Dell & owned by him until 2006.
-Held the 850cc Silverstone lap record at 1min 12. 6 seconds.
-Mike had a total of 54 class wins, including 12 in 1969, 13 in 1970, 14 in 1971, 5 in 1972 and 6 in 1973.
-Extensively lightened throughout with hundreds of holes and fibreglass and aluminium panels.
-As last raced

-----------------------------------------Engine: 875cc Imp engine with reduced stroke to 850cc. Big valve head, race cam, modified distributor, larger oil pump, larger baffled sump, lightened crank, con-rods & flywheel, heavy duty clutch, twin weber 40DCOE’s on a combined manifold.
Front mounted radiator & oil cooler , small fuel tank .
Body : Fibreglass bonnet & arches , aluminium bootlid & doorskin lowers , neat lightening holes EVERYWHERE ! The starter motor is very cool , as are gear shift tube, pedals, handbrake etc etc
Aluminium strap deadbolt door latches in gutted doors , all Perspex windows & headlight lenses .
Wheels: 13 x 10” wide Revolution alloy wheels on the rear and 13 x 8” wide Revolution wheels on the front.
Suspension: Lightened wishbones, front anti-roll bar, Koni alloy big bodied shock absorbers, twin rear springs.
