1967 Morris Mini Minor Super de Luxe with 1300GT power unit

TMK 582F was built on 11 September 1967 and dispatched to Stewart & Arden, the BMC dealers in London, but was not registered until June 1968.

The previous owner bought the car in 2008 and carried out a major restoration with performance upgrades to go historic road rallying. However, he found that, despite extensive sound deadening, a fullhouse 1293, straight cut gearbox and drops were too noisy for driving to and from events.

I purchased the car in 2021 but have hardly used it. Earlier this year I decided to replace the tired engine and gearbox with a 1300 GT unit, which was rebuilt with the help of a Red Bull F1 engine builder, and the current specification is as follows:-

Piper 285 camshaft with 3 degree offset Woodruff key

Twin HS4 carburettors on alloy manifold (could be water heated)
LCB exhaust manifold with twin box system
Cooper S type distributor
1300 GT gearbox and differential with Quinton Hazell couplings
Franklin alloy radiator

Brakes and suspension.
New Cooper S 7. 5” discs and callipers with all new CV joints, hubs, swivels and bearings according to previous owner
Rear brakes overhauled with new cylinders, upgraded shoes and BMC Works-type drilled S drums
Aeroquip hoses front and back
Negative camber front lower suspension arms
Competition tie rods with poly bushes
BMC Special Tuning bump stops front and rear
5 x Minator 6” alloy wheels with 165 Falkens on front and 165 Camacs onrear plus unused Minator/ Falken spare

Bodywork is as original plus a bonnet strap and perspex headlamp covers.
Interior trim is original, including the Kangol seat belts, apart from the carpet. Black bucket seats have been fitted but the original seats are in good condition and come with the car.

Windscreen washers have electric pump.

The car passed its MoT on 11 September 2024 with no advisories.

The bootlid needs a new rubber seal (provided) and although the speedo appears quite accurate, the odometer is not working. I do have a black faced speedo to replace it if desired. The old instrument nacelle is quite brittle and could do with replacing. The heater fan is not working.
The current wheels protrude from the body. This could be cured with extra camber, narrower wheels or extended wheelarches.

For the right price, the car can come with a fresh oil and filter, antifreeze and a session on a rolling road. There is a choice of air filters or trumpets, steering wheel and even wheels. There is also a matching double skinned fibreglass bootlid, reversing light and a never fitted Safety Devices 6 point rollcage.
