Description
Cherished daily classic driver. Supplied in 2017 by the experts Clarkes XJS World in Sussex. 4 former keepers. Full Jaguar dealer service to 2004. MOT to May 2025. I've unashamedly put @30k miles on it from 94k - to 125k. Also unashamedly no-expense-spared serviced and maintained this car with only Clarkes. They have had the vehicle under their care since 2004! Full paperwork to support. After a bare-metal re-spray in 2017 it is presented here in Jaguar Midnight Blue over Oatmeal Connolly leather. Unique to this car is the Black dashboard which reduces glare. It is in very good condition, with minor blemishes as occur when it's out and about. It's fast, smooth and strong. A perfect car for cross-Europe GT dashes. I've used it for frequent trips back to West Wales, and to make 2-3 hour commutes, which is why I bought the car. As seen in the mileage on the MOT's of the last 3 years, I've had to work abroad and it simply isn't being driven enough. As with all Celebration models, Jaguar had ironed out all the problems with the earlier V12 XJS models and this is clear in the complete reliability of the 4. 0 straight 6 engine, which in 'sport' mode is seriously quick. It is a very fast car on the right road and whilst I can't admit to possibly the max I've taken it to, I've seen it comfortably into 3 figures on the speedo. Fingertip control on the wheel. Fully loaded with Cruise control, sport mode, ABS, etc etc. Happily returns 35-38 MPG when driven sedately. Reluctant sale, the kids are yelling, but they won't be able to handle, let alone insure something as high level as this for a few years yet. And it needs to go to a good home where it will be driven often. For the level of comfort and performance it's hard to find a better vehicle at this kind of price that will deliver. The XJS was a stand-out car for Jaguar, with excellent chassis, suspension and handling pedigree. The development over 20 years of this model culminated in the 4. 0 Straight Six Celebration, which was the one I was after. Brakes were moved outboard, the engine was a development of Jaguars HE (High Efficiency) approach. Reliability was improved massively so was the ease of repair and maintenance. Although the drop-heads are more desirable I wanted an all-year-round driver to whisk me up and down the country, and occasionally to Paris or Amsterdam for supper. Everywhere it goes it turns heads, which is lovely. Many people come up and admire it on the petrol station forecourt or reminisce about always wanting one since watching The Saint on TV. It elevates any car park with it's mere design presence. It's been a big part of my life for 7 years now but time to move on. As described above, no expense spared (frankly it didn't need much at all to maintain) and I would hope this is one of the finest examples on the road today. There are many more miles in it yet.
