Description
Bought as an unfinished project from Cotswold Classics 20 yrs ago in big lumps, frame forks, wheels, engine & gearbox.
Found to have broken crankshaft, replaced and reground.
Engine is 1953 700cc Meteor, Frame 1960 Constellation, front end early Norton Commando with sought after AP brakes ( I am told )
Converted to 12 volt and new wiring harness made by Ferrett on site
Rebuilt rims and stainless spokes.
Engine has later cams and bigger carb.
Finished off with a " long range" petrol tank bought in Delhi and repro speedo.
NB Speedo only reads miles since rebuid, Total mileage is UNKNOWN EBay bits like seat & stainless mudguards. Alloy battery and coil cover.
Registered as a 1960 model with help from REOC. In 2006
Did 3000 miles then moved house and bike stood for a good while under a sheet. Recently recommissioned with a new battery, the chrome had gone off the rear rim so silver hammerite to cover. Stripped and big breather conversion.
It has just completed the VMCC Scottish National Rally without incident and a variety of local club runs in the Lakes etc Now has 4400 on clock. Starts and runs well
NOT concours, more well used, frame still original paint, tank has small dint near right knee, chrome not perfect Paint coming off alloy battery cover.
Usual Enfield gearbox foibles. Starts well but at 77 with knee problems I need to downsize!Great for Club runs, plenty of torque and stops well
