Liquid Yellow Renault Clio 182 FF – exhaustive fast-road/ track spec with meticulous maintenance record
I acquired this car in March 2020 from the previous owner who had just stripped it, fitted a Fulcrum full cage and BC suspension, overhauled the brakes and fitted new tyres in anticipation of a ‘Ring trip that never happened. His circumstances changed unexpectedly, and I was the lucky recipient of what was already a fairly sorted car. Now it’s my turn to find it the next owner who will cherish it as I have done. I genuinely was not planning on selling – however an opportunity to acquire an even more unique 182 came along suddenly, so EK05OAZ is now surplus to requirements.
In 4. 5 years of ownership I’ve spared no expense to build my ultimate fast-road 182 (also well suited to track of course, although I’ve personally only tracked the car once) and maintain it in tip-top mechanical fettle, with a thick ring-binder of invoices to prove.
Odometer reads 157, 700 miles. MoT expires December 2024. HPI clear. Two keys.
First for the bad bits, all cosmetic:
- Rust bubbles on the edge of the OS rear arch where the arch was rolled by a previous owner – these have not degraded at all since my ownership.
- OS leading edge of the bonnet has rust bubbles
- Front bumper is scuffed and has two repaired cracks
- Scuff on the rear bumper NS corner
- Surface rust on the OS rear turret top and cage where some water got in a few years ago (has not degraded further)
- Headlights could use a polish
Engine:
- 438 Catcams and KTEC map (dyno’ed at 197 bhp in March 2020)
- KTEC induction kit (freshly cleaned and oiled in preparation for sale)
- Custom decat resonated exhaust (tips protrude past bumper and may not pass MoT)
- Spare unresonated pipe will come with the car
- BTT exhaust brackets fitted May 2022
- Belts, dephaser and water pump supplied and fitted by AW Motorworks November 2023
- New injectors December 2023
- New spark plugs October 2023
- New top engine mount November 2023
- New radiator and AC condenser supplied and fitted by AW Motorworks June 2020
- All undertrays and arch liners fitted except for aluminium sump guard in place of plastic OEM engine undertray
- In my ownership engine oil and filter and pollen filter changed every year / 5, 000 miles, freshly changed in preparation for sale
Transmission:
- Quaife LSD and new clutch supplied and fitted by AW Motorworks April 2021
- Full gearbox rebuild by AW Motorworks July 2024
- PMS shifter, with lead shot by AW Motorworks
Suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres:
• BC DS front coilovers (6 kgs) with adjustable solid top mounts protected by coilover covers, fitted new March 2020
• Genuine Renault Cup wishbones, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods and Powerflex Purple front anti-roll bar bushes fitted new June 2020
• H+R springs and OEM Cup dampers at the rear (the combo of BC front coilovers and OEM rear suspension makes for an excellent, compliant but controlled fast-road setup)
• Whiteline 18mm rear anti-roll bar
• OZ Superleggera 15x7J wheels in anthracite (extremely rare wheels not to be confused with the more common OZ Ultraleggera). This is the lightest wheel available for the 182 at 5. 5 kgs. In good condition with no kerbing.
• PMS studs and nuts
• 195/ 50/ 15 PS3s all round (covered 1, 100 miles, DOT coded 4523)
• Goodridge brake lines, Brembo HC discs, OEM front pads and DS2500 rear pads (part-worn set of DS1. 11 front pads will come with the car)
Interior:
- Fully stripped, rear seats removed and replaced with boot carpet February 2020
- Fulcrum Motorsports full cage in gloss black fitted February 2020
- Track Car Door Cards front and rear in 2mm gloss black with yellow door handles (retaining electric window and mirror switches) February 2020
- Corbeau XL bucket seats (new December 2019) with 6-point Sabelt driver’s harness fitted by AW Motorworks with spreader plates on the floorpan, and 4-point Sabelt passenger’s harness
- Sabelt steering wheel with carbon effect horn push
- Volantech cruise control panel
- 2x USB connectors in lieu of head unit
- AC and cruise control fully functional
