Description
Up for sale my Tiger Cub, It’s a 1961 model, first registered on the 4th August 1961; it’s extremely original, with matching frame and engine numbers, and still on it’s original registration. All the tinware is present and correct, no fibreglass panels or mudguards etc; it even has it’s original carburettor which works fine, correct handlebars, levers, etc etc. it’s never been messed about with, and I don’t think you would find a more original bike.
It was originally sold by our local Triumph dealer and hasn’t gone far; it’s always been in this area. I’ve owned it for fifteen years, and bought it a few miles away from home.
As you can see from the pictures, it’s in very nice condition. All the paintwork has been done in the correct colours, the wheels have been rebuilt with new British chrome rims from Central Wheel and stainless steel spokes and are fitted with the correct Avon tyres, and it has a new Armours exhaust pipe and silencer, along with a pair of bar – end mirrors for safety. I still have the original pipe and silencer which I changed because they were getting a bit ratty, they can come with the bike if required.
The engine and gearbox have just recently been rebuilt with new bearings, seals etc. throughout, and the big end has been upgraded to a roller bearing assembly, which deals with that particular weakness of cubs; this conversion is race proven and it should now be good for many more miles. Particular attention was given to ensuring that it would be oiltight, and it doesn’t leak oil! It generally starts first or second kick.
The charging system works well, and all the lights, horn and switches work as they should. The battery is quite new.
It comes with quite a bit of paperwork, including the original cardboard logbook showing the supplying dealer and original and subsequent owners, some old MOT certificates, receipts for work carried out over the years, old tax discs, etcetc. and of course I have the V5 in my name.
I’m looking for £4000 for it, which I think is a fair price given the originality and condition; I doubt if there are many, if any, which have survived as unmolested as this.
I’m located near Dundee in Scotland, and know a good bike courier if necessary (The Bike Bus); so it could be delivered anywhere in the UK or Ireland at reasonable cost.
