Description
FORD CORSAIR 83 (1966)
RARE ‘83’ MODEL WITH DELUXE BODY, HIGH COMPRESSION ENGINE, BENCH SEATS & COLUMN CHANGE
DESCRIPTION - Named CORSAIR 83 because the Pre Cross-Flow Kent engines were rated at 83hp compared with the standard GT engines fitted to Corsairs and Mk1 Cortinas which were rated at 78hp. 83 badges were fitted on the rear wings in the same position as GT badges. The 83 was a South African export only model with high compression engine and Weber 28/ 36 DCD twin choke carburettor the same as GT models.
HISTORY - The car was made by Ford UK in November 1965 then shipped to South Africa in knock down form and assembled at the Port Elizabeth plant. First registered 27th FEBRUARY 1966. Imported into UK 2024. No service history but the owner's handbook is still with the car.

VIEWING RECOMMENDED
CONDITION – The car is unrestored, however, quite a few of the panels have been repainted. Underneath is in good condition - the floor panels and chassis members including the outriggers are all original with no welding - the inner wheel arches are all good. There is some surface rust in places as would be expected for an unrestored car almost 60 years old. The interior appears to be original apart from the carpets – the trim around door frames has been replaced at some time but it needs tidying up. The roof is painted black - it’s not vinyl.
New battery and rear tyres.
The car has been in storage for several years so it needs recommissioning before driving on the road.
